Gregory Alan Isakov 2023 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Gregory Alan Isakov has been wowing audiences every night with his indie-folk favorites, and he’s not done yet! The South African singer-songwriter will next perform on August 29th in Salt Lake City, UT. He’ll stop in Saint Paul, MN, Atlanta, GA, Philadelphia, PA, and more before concluding on October 23rd in New York, NY.
Isakov has been supporting his latest album, Appaloosa Bones, which also happens to be his first in five years! New songs like “Before The Sun,” “Watchman,” and the titular track serve up the same contemporary folk sound you know and love, but also aren’t short on surprises. The one-man instrumentalist works his magic on the banjo, piano, ukulele, and more, which flow effortlessly over Isakov’s divine vocals.
As for the earthy and undeniably personal lyrics? Gregory Alan Isakov has been sharing the meanings behind them on Instagram, and we love it! “I wrote parts of this song when I was 22, just as something for me,” he said about “Before The Sun.” “The song reminds me of working outside, and being outside, and I would play it on breaks from work. So glad it made it on the record.”
As for “Appaloosa Bones”? It’s a little darker in tone, but no less crucial to Isakov’s listeners. “They call this the “title track” in the biz,” he joked online. “I hope you dig it. it was written mostly in isolation and touches on confronting your mind during difficult times, and that there’s beauty in hard things.” After enduring a global pandemic, personal trauma, and more in the five years since his last record, 2018’s Evening Machines, Gregory Alan Isakov is holding nothing back on his new project.
The lyrical content is rich and captivating, but also lets you fill in the blanks for yourself. The Colorado-raised singer takes inspiration from the state’s vibrant nature and earthy energy, which you’ll feel for yourself in every song. In fact, this has kind of been Gregory Alan Isakov’s vibe for two decades now! He celebrated the 20-year anniversary of his debut record, Rust Colored Stones, this year. And this new record and tour is a full circle moment for folk music fans. Are you ready to sway and sing along to every song? Get your tickets to a Gregory Alan Isakov concert today.
