Gin Blossoms and Sugar Ray 2023 Tour Announcement
Were you around to witness the heyday of 90s alternative rock? Then boy, do we have the trek for you! Gin Blossoms and Sugar Ray have announced a co-headlining tour for the fall of 2023, and it will be quite the party. They’ll begin on September 1st in Cedar Rapids, IA, continuing through the 30th in Bridgeport, CT.
“I’m so excited to tour with Sugar Ray, Tonic and Fastball,” Gin Blossoms vocalist Robin Wilson said in a statement. “They’re some of my favorite bands to be on the road with. We’re looking forward to doing some rock and roll shows.” Sugar Ray singer Mark McGrath seconded this statement with his own stamp of approval. “I can’t think of anything better than spending the summer with great friends playing music,” he says. This tour is a giant cavalcade of hits that just keeps delivering, and I’m always honored to share a stage with Gin Blossoms.”
The two groups go way back, delivering a healthy dose of alternative rock throughout the past three decades. They were formed around the same time and not too far away, with Gin Blossoms coming together in Tempe, AZ, and Sugar Ray in Newport Beach, CA. And they’ve played the same stages quite a few times over the years. Is there any greater bond than that of a decades-old rock band who has sweat onstage together and then shared a beer (or five!) post-show? We didn’t think so.
On this trek, you’ll hear all your favorite 90s hits. This includes Gin Blossom’s second and arguably most commercially successful album, 1992’s New Miserable Experience! The record includes some of their biggest hits like “Hey Jealousy,” “Until I Fall Away,” and “Found Out About You,” and has since been certified triple-platinum. Ready to take a trip back in time? You’ll also get modern essentialss from the band that incorporates alt-rock and jangle pop, including songs from their latest album, 2018’s Mixed Reality.
As for Sugar Ray? Mark McGrath and his bandmates are doing just fine. They’ve always had a beachy, breezy vibe that stems from their Orange Country roots. And they can’t wait to come out and have boatloads of fun (pun intended) on the upcoming trek. The setlist will include classics like “Fly,” “When It’s Over,” and “Answer the Phone,” plus singles from their 2019 album, Little Yachty. Fun fact: that project marked their first full-length record in a decade!
Nostalgia will be neverending on the Gin Blossoms and Sugar Ray tour, a sweet treat for fans of pop-infused alternative rock. Get your tickets now for the following dates!
