George Strait 2023 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
The “King of Country” is heading on his first full-blown stadium trek in nearly a decade. Will you be attending the George Strait tour in 2023? Joined by Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town on select dates, he’s kicking off on May 6th in Glendale, AZ, making stops in Milwaukee, WI, Seattle, WA, Nashville, TN, and more before concluding on August 5th in Tampa, FL.
Don’t get us wrong, George Strait never stopped performing. He played a mini-residency in Las Vegas last summer, headlined ATLive in Atlanta, GA, alongside Metallica and Eric Church…the list goes on. However, it’s been a hot minute since he did a full-length stadium run. The last time there was a George Strait tour this big was back in 2012 on “The Cowboy Rides Away,” which was ironically supposed to be his farewell tour. Isn’t it funny how that works? Luckily for us, the King of Country is riding into the arenas once again with this greatest hits, and you don’t want to miss seeing the neotraditional country megastar in action.
“It just felt right,” Strait Billboard in a 2022 interview, “I had the opportunity to work with Chris and Little Big Town, and everything just kind of fell in place for next year.” “I don’t do that many shows anymore,” he continued, “so if we can do a stadium where we can play for more people, that works for me.” Strait has gone back and forth on his touring schedule over the past decade, initially claiming that he would stop touring in the early 2010s are nearly thirty years of being on the road nonstop. He took this back in 2012, claiming that he wasn’t retiring, but “the old road-warrior days are just going to be over.”
He’s stood by this statement so far, mostly playing mini-residencies and headlining slots at festivals instead of full-length tours. But that makes the 2023 George Strait all the more special… which is why he had to add a second Nashville date due to popular demand! He has a complete catalog of country hits at his fingertips, including “I Cross My Heart,” “Amarillo by Morning,” “Carrying Your Love with Me,” and more, along with more recent tracks. He continues to put out quality neotraditionalist country hits at age 70, with his 30th album, 2019’s Honky Tonk Time Machine, being a big crowd-pleaser!
