Dream Theater 2025 Tour Announcement – 40th Anniversary Tour Schedule
Dream Theater are marking four decades of prog-metal mastery with the “40th Anniversary Tour,” and fans everywhere are letting their hair down for it. Literally. Marking their first North American run since drummer Mike Portnoy rejoined the lineup after 13 years, they’ll next perform on September 16th in Charlotte, NC. The band will stop in Pittsburgh, PA, Detroit, MI, Minneapolis, MN, and more before finishing up on October 25th in Uniondale, NY.
The 2025 Dream Theater tour began in Europe last month, and the reviews have been nothing short of sensational. Publications have applauded their complex musical arrangements, technical prowess, and stage presence that’s stood the test of time. And trust us, it’s clear that Dream Theater is having just as much fun as their fans are. With a setlist that includes classics like “The Spirit Carries On,” “Panic Attack,” and “Another Day,” plus new tunes from their sixteenth record, 2025’s Parasomnia, it’s a walk through their impressive career.
Not to mention, a full-circle moment for longtime supporters as drummer Mike Portnoy joins them onstage at the 2025 Dream Theater concerts once again. What signaled his return after well over a decade? The band has spoken up about it in recent months. “You know, it’s hard to say. You know, it’s not something that you really predict or plan or whatever,” said guitarist and founding member John Petrucci.
“It was sort of like everything aligned. The stars aligned and it was the right time to do it. We’re also at the point where, this is it hurts me to say in some ways. And it’s also fun to say 40th anniversary,” he continued. “But no, we’re actually really, really fortunate to have a career that that long. And so this is the 40th anniversary tour. So there’s so many milestones. You know, Mike returning the first record with him in many, many years and then celebrating the 40th anniversary. So it’s been incredible.”
It’s been incredible, indeed! Dream Theater aren’t shying away from the epic titles that made them icons. In many cities, fans are treated to “A Change of Seasons” (a longtime fan-favorite deep cut), classic albums performed in large chunks, and mash-ups of live material from across all eras. It’s a show built for people who’ve followed them since the early days and for anyone discovering the band now, creating a grand celebration of their past, present, and future.
With 12 million records sold, three Grammy nominations, and a reputation as one of the best prog-metal bands of their time, the accolades are well-deserved on the 2025 Dream Theater tour. This is a joyous tribute to everything they’ve done, and they hope to see you in the crowd! Get your tickets now for the following dates….
