Dermot Kennedy 2026 Tour Announcement – The Weight of the Woods Tour Schedule
Dermot Kennedy is returning to the road in 2026 with “The Weight of the Woods Tour,” a 32-date North American run that kicks off September 4 in Minneapolis, MN, and wraps October 29 in Vancouver, BC.
Slated to perform in major venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO (can you already hear the acoustics?) and Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, this is one special trek for Kennedy. These spots match the vibe of his upcoming third album, The Weight of the Woods — stripped-back, but still larger-than-life. And while we’ve gotten a preview with singles like “Funeral,” “Refuge,” and “Honest”….
We can’t wait to hear the full record when it arrives on April 3. It feels like a continuation of the folk-inspired, laid-back direction he’s leaned into throughout the 2020s, and that’s just fine with us. Kennedy has been hard at work writing these new songs, a follow-up to 2022’s Sonder, which are made as much for the stage as they are for the studio. Whether that stage is in an arena or a pub in his Ireland hometown.
“If I get up in a pub with just a guitar or a piano, I’m certain that I can sing to a room full of people,” Kennedy said in a statement. “It’s where I’m the most comfortable. I wanted that element to be front-and-center on this album.” He also expanded on the name of this record and how his Celtic roots inspired it. “To me, the album is a beautiful homegrown thing with Irish instruments and an Irish story.
“There’s a forest behind my house, which is a haven for my sense of wonder,” he continued. “It’s a peaceful place where I can escape. I’ve entertained the idea of living somewhere else, but I don’t think I’d be happy anywhere else.” The same goes for the listener. As no matter where they call home, listening to these tunes transports them right to a Dublin pub with a glass of Guiness in front of them, wondering how someone could possibly be as talented as Dermot Kennedy.
He’s gone from smaller theaters to amphitheaters and arenas without really changing the core of what he does, and that’s extremely rare/ Even in bigger venues, the focus stays on the songwriting — which is part of why these shows tend to feel more personal than they probably should at this size.
