Corinne Bailey Rae 2023 Tour Announcement – Black Rainbows Tour Schedule
Corinne Bailey Rae is ready for a comeback! The British R&B singer is set for the “Black Rainbows Tour” in the fall, named for her upcoming fourth album of the same name. She’ll begin on September 5th in Long Island, NY, continuing through October 7th in Marfa, TX.
Set for release in September, Black Rainbows marks Rae’s first new project in seven years. And the Grammy-winning singer is off to a great start with the first single, “New York Transit Queen.” The track trades her signature neo-soul for rock-ready percussion, rhythm, and gritty vocals that wouldn’t be out of place at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom. It’s a shocking musical twist, for sure, but we’re pleasantly surprised!
Is this a one-off for Corinne Bailey Rae, who obviously has R&B in her blood, or is she taking an even deeper dive into a new musical direction than we thought? These questions won’t be answered until her new album and tour, but it is something to ponder in the meantime. It’s been nearly two decades since she released her most famous song, “Put Your Records On,” and quite a bit has happened since. But Corinne Bailey Rae will always be one of the reigning queens of R&B.
Her last album, 2016’s The Heart Speaks in Whispers, earned incredible reviews from critics and debuted at No. 31 on the Billboard 200, plus at No. 3 on the US Top R&B Albums chart. She’s serenaded an entire generation of fans and fellow artists with her soothing vocals and surreal penchant for songwriting. And from what we’ve heard so far, she’s only improved with Black Rainbows!
“This is an album that is extremely special to me, as it is inspired by the objects and artworks collected by Theaster Gates at the Stony Island Arts Bank in Chicago,” Rae wrote on Instagram. “This project includes a collection of 10 songs, an accompanying hardcover book, Reflections/Refractions at The Stony Island Arts Bank, containing images shot by world-renowned photographer [Koto Bolofo], plus live performances, lectures and exhibitions throughout the Black Rainbows Tour that will take place this Fall.”
So it’s not just an album, it’s an exhibition… and it’s exactly what you’d expect from Corinne Bailey Rae! She’s an artist in every s sense of the word, and the 44-year-old singer can’t wait to enter her Black Rainbows era with you this fall. Get your tickets now!
