Your favorite cowboy is back! Cody Johnson has announced the “Leather Tour” for 2024, taking the country music singer to fourteen cities. He’ll begin on January 19th in Sacramento, CA. Making stops in San Diego, CA, Nashville, TN, Birmingham, AL, and more, he’ll continue through July 11th in Ft. Loramie, OH.
So, what inspired this Cody Johnson tour? It’s almost the moment we’ve all been waiting for…the release of his eighth album! Part one of his deluxe project, Leather, is set to come out in November, and it’s destined to be a dream for any country music lover. Need we remind you of the impact of his last record, 2021’s Human: The Double Album? Which reached a career-altering No. 19 on the Billboard 200 and helped Johnson make history at the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Show alongside the likes of Garth Brooks and George Strait? He’s just getting started, and 2024 will be the year of Cody Johnson.
He’s already put out the first single off Leather, called “The Painter,” which is a heartwarming tribute to Johnson’s wife, Brandi. How adorable is that? Drawing primarily from neotraditional country influences, plus a twinge of country-rock and modern pop, it’s a track that perfectly encapsulates all that Cody Johnson is about. He’s a family man first, and a country megastar second… and you’ll see both sides of him as he gears up for the Leather era. “This round of 24 songs I have to say is the best round of songs I have ever recorded, and I feel like that’s the way it should be,” Johnson said in a recent interview. “Each album should outdo the last one.” He also expanded on the overall vibes of Leather, which will follow him onto the next Cody Johnson tour. “There’s some fun stuff,” he says, “I think the theme of this new album is fun. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a ballad or whether it’s tongue-in-cheek kinda fun. It all has to be fun, it all has to make you kind of want to move around and bob your head a little bit.”
