Chicago 2022 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Chicago is returning on the road in late summer 2022, announcing a series of headlining concerts after they wrap up a co-headlining trek with Brian Wilson. The rock group will kick off on August 28th in Vancouver, BC, and continue through September 17th, 2023, in Charlotte, NC.
It’s been an incredible summer for Chicago as they’ve toured with the legendary Beach Boy, especially since they go way back. The friendship between the band and Wilson dates back to the 1970s, while they frequently dueted onstage to great hits like “Darlin’” and “Surf’s Up.” A little Midwestern flair alongside Wilson’s Southern California vibes? Don’t mind if we do. However, Chicago is ready to headline their shows starting in August, and you can see them in cities like Cincinnati, OH, Clarkston, MI, San Diego, CA, and more.
The self-described “rock and roll band with horns” has been through a lot over the past 55 years. Some of it hasn’t been so ideal, like the frequently-rotating member lineup. However, they’ve also created something beautiful with the help of their rock hits that blend jazz, R&B, pop, and classical music. There’s no other band quite like Chicago, and it’s made clear with their live shows and 100 million records sold.
Speaking of records, the band has a new one right around the corner! Chicago XXXVIII: Born for This Moment is set for release in mid-July and marks their first non-holiday album since 2014. They’ve already released the lead single, “If This is Goodbye,” and have said some very sentimental things about their 38th album. “One of the big reasons this album works so well is that when you put it on and play it, you hear something you’re not quite expecting to hear,” Chicago founding member Lee Loughnane told Ultimate Classic Rock. “And it immediately pulls you in musically and emotionally.”
Keyboardist Robert Lamm added his statement about the goals for Born For This Moment. “I hope that 55 years from now, listeners will actually feel something about our music and our lyrics,” he said. “I mean, we’re all human. We all go through some variation of the same pain and joy at some point in our lives, and there’s a commonality to that. I hope listeners in the future will actually get all those feelings while listening to our music.”
We have no doubt that they will, especially when listening to these tracks on the 2022 Chicago tour. Get your tickets today!
