Cat Power 2022 Tour Announcement – Covers Tour Schedule
Cat Power will soon embark on the Covers tour, named for her upcoming eleventh album, and we can’t wait to see the indie darling. She’ll begin her trek on January 16th in Albany, NY, and continue for several months before wrapping up on May 6th in Charlotte, NC.
Fans of the folk-rock crooner know that a Cat Power concert is an unparalleled experience – filled with energetic applause and raspy vocals that you can instantly recognize. Only this time… these shows will have an even more significant element of surprise. She won’t just be playing her original indie hits that you’ve grown to love over eleven albums and three decades, but also heartfelt covers of your favorite R&B, pop, and rock tunes.
The upcoming Cat Powers album Covers lives up to its name and features renditions of songs by Iggy Pop, Nick Cave, Billie Holiday, Lana Del Rey, and more. She released her version of Frank Ocean’s “Bad Religion” several months back, which received excellent reviews and led to a performance on The Late Late Show with James Corden in October.
“I was ten years old in the 90s when I first heard her, and her voice has echoed and resonated every time since. Power.” wrote one YouTube comment on her performance, and it’s not an exaggeration. She gained significant attention after opening for Liz Phair in 1993 and has since built a legendary career. We’re talking about collaborations with Dave Grohl and Eddie Vedder, thousands of records sold, and a killer reputation for her raspy vocals and honest lyrics.
And then there are the Cat Powers tours that have drawn significant attention, often due to their erratic nature that has been called “raw” and “unpredictable.” Sure, it’s a bit unique to see her blend songs together or forget to introduce them onstage, but Cat Powers has never been quite like other artists. And it’s one of her greatest attributes.
