Café Tacvba and Caifanes 2024 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule

Listen up, Latin rock lovers…Caifanes and Café Tacvba are embarking on a joint tour in 2024! The two groups will kick off on May 29th in Kennewick, WA, continuing through June 30th in Indianapolis, IN.

“This historic musical journey promises fans an unforgettable experience as the two groups come together to celebrate their legacies and showcase the power of Mexican rock on an international stage,” reads a press release. This is a dream come to fruition for fans of Café Tacvba and Caifane, both of whom originated in Mexico in the 1980s. Additionally, these artists have long shared a mutual friendship and appreciation for each other’s music.

Café Tacvba has even covered Caifanes’ beloved track “Viento” in some of their live performances! On paper, these two groups have respective sounds that, while both blurring the lines of Latin rock, couldn’t be more different. Café Tacvba are experimental icons who drew attention in Mexico over thirty years ago with their self-titled debut, which contained elements of punk, ska, electronica, and hip-hop. Not to mention, regional Mexican sub-genres such norteño, bolero, and ranchera.

Their fearlessness was well-received and served as the catalyst for a prestigious career that’s lasted throughout the decades, helping them release eight top-selling albums, become GRAMMY Award winners, and more. They’ve taken a break from recording over the past few years to focus on touring, but that’s just fine with us! Café Tacvba has insane onstage chemistry that demonstrates the strength of musical bonds and magical of Rock en Español, and it’s a beautiful sight to behold.

Additionally, we can’t wait to see what exciting things that Caifanes is cooking up for their set! Formed in the mid-1980s, and going on hiatus in 1995 before returning in 2011, the group has had a career that’s not always been linear, but forever legendary and beloved. Caifanes was one of the first bands to blend rock with traditional Mexican music, creating a sound that was both endearing and introspective. Their lyrics tackled social and political issues, and their influence on Latin rock is undeniable.

Both Café Tacvba and Caifanes have extensive back catalogs of hits, and there’s no telling what they might pull out for this special tour.
