Blake Shelton is heading “Back to Honky Tonk” in 2023! The country star has just announced his latest trek, which begins on February 16th in Lincoln, NE, and makes stops in St. Paul, MN, Jacksonville, FL, Cincinnati, OH, and more before concluding on March 25th in Buffalo, NY.
“We’re throwing one hell of a party in 2023,” the singer wrote on the Blake Shelton Twitter page, “The #BackToTheHonkyTonk Tour with Carly Pearce and Jackson Dean is coming to a city near you! It’s going to be big.” Despite taking things slow in summer 2022, playing a handful of Blake Shelton concerts instead of a headlining tour… it’s clear that he was brewing up big things. He’s continuing to support his twelfth and latest album, 2021’s Body Language, in Southern, Midwestern, East coast cities and everything in between. It’s going to be one of the biggest country bashes of the new year.
It may be called the “Back to Honky Tonk tour,” but the real question is this… did Shelton ever truly leave? The Oklahoma native has been spitting out hit country singles since his self-titled debut in 2001. Sure, he’s taken a few detours into the country-pop subgenre and supported his pop star wife, Gwen Stefani, on many occasions… but he’ll always be honky tonk at heart. Classic tracks like “Hillbilly Bone,” “Ol’ Red,” “God Gave Me You,” and “Some Beach” have proved it for the past two decades.
There’s also his most recent single, “No Body,” released in August 2022… which may signal the musical direction for his next record. It’s very 90s country, with a music video depicting Shelton (a dead ringer for 90s country hero, Billy Ray Cyrus) playing to a line-dancing crowd in a honky tonk bar. It’s clear that he belongs more at a rodeo than a red carpet event, and fans from every era can flock to see him perform at these Blake Shelton concerts.
