Billy Idol 2023 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Billy Idol is heading back on the road in spring 2023, putting you up close and personal with the punk rock legend! He’ll kick off on March 30th in Scottsdale, AZ, continuing through May 20th in Pasadena, CA.
While he played music festivals like Sea. Hear. Now and Lollapalooza (singing with Miley Cyrus!) in 2022, plus a Las Vegas residency, it’s been a while since we’ve gotten a full-length Billy Idol tour. Luckily, we won’t have to wait much longer, as the 67-year-old rocker is hitting up 16 US cities with a setlist of both old and new essentials. We all want to hear the classics like “White Wedding,” “Dancing with Myself,” and “Rebel Yell.” However, he also released new music in the 2020s after a seven-year hiatus, and it’s a seriously big deal for Billy Idol fans.
He’s come out with two EPs, 2021’s The Roadside, and 2022’s The Cage, in recent years, and both will be present at these Billy Idol concerts. The first project is a deeply personal affair that touches everything from women’s empowerment and Idol becoming a grandfather to a near-fatal motorcycle accident he experienced decades ago. On the other hand, The Cage is a pure rock and roll release that’s all about having fun… a result of Idol’s post-pandemic urge to create music that any generation can enjoy.
Idol describes The Cage as having “a lot more coming at you. Loads more guitar. And that’s a lot of fun.” “We were pretty fired up by the fact that we hadn’t played for a couple of years, and suddenly we were bursting on stage,” he continued, “and it kind of woke us up to what the next EP could be.” “That it could be a little more strum und drang, a little more coming at you, a little more rock ‘n’ roll, a little more f*** you! Well, a tiny bit of f*** you, anyhow. The bottom line is we had a lot of fun doing it.”
Having fun is kind of Idol’s thing, as he’s been doing it for over half a century. He’s established himself as a punk and glam rock legend since the 1970s, both as a solo artist and frontman of British rock band Generation X. Of course, he’s also not afraid to dip his toes and platinum blonde do’ into other genres. That’s why he was excited to collaborate with Cyrus on the song “Night Crawling,” and why he improvised a rap verse in his hit song “Eyes Without A Face” all the way back in 1984. You know, long before rappers became rockers (cough, Machine Gun Kelly) and vice versa.
Billy Idol is an innovator in every sense of the term, and he’s had a major comeback in the 2020s with new music and a regular performance schedule. You can’t miss your chance to see a true punk rock legend up close! Get your Billy Idol tickets today.
