Avenged Sevenfold, also known as A7X, is gearing up for the release of their eighth album, Life Is but a Dream…, in June 2023. They’ve already melted our faces off with new singles like “Nobody” and “Mattel,” which are the perfect comeback for fans who have missed them over the past seven years! Yes, it’s been that long since they put out their last record, 2016’s The Stage, but M. Shadows and his bandmates are more than making up for the lost time.
Just watch the “Nobody” music video, a stop-motion masterpiece that expertly captures both classic and present-day Avenged Sevenfold. Longtime fans know that skeletons and stop-motion techniques are crucial to the band’s aesthetic (remember “A Little Piece of Heaven?”). They’re also aware that A7X can pull off a powerful ballad just as well as a hard-hitting metal verse… and “Nobody” is a mix of both that hits the “Deathbat Nation” right in the feels.
Speaking of the band’s fan club, they’ve been through countless eras of Avenged Sevenfold. First, there was their debut, 2001’s Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, which amalgamated screamo and straight-up metal. A new influx of fans came in with A7X’s mainstream breakout record, 2005’s City of Evil, which included epic singles like “Bat Country,” “Beast and the Harlot,” and “Seize the Day.” Later records like 2010’s Nightmare and 2013’s Hail to the King dealt with the aftermath of their drummer, The Rev, and his tragic passing in 2009.
While Avenged Sevenfold has taken a break from performing over the past five years to become husbands and fathers, plus write new music, they’re officially back and more badass than ever. It’s time to hear Synyster Gates’ epic guitar solos and M. Shadow’s trademark growls amplified in the country’s biggest venues! Will you be at these shows? Get your Avenged Sevenfold tickets today.
