Apocalyptica 2025 Tour Announcement – Plays Metallica Vol. 2 Tour Schedule
Apocalyptica is setting out on the “Plays Metallica Vol. 2 Tour” next year! Joined by real-life guitar hero Nita Strauss, the Finnish symphonic metal band will begin on February 6, 2025, in Washington, DC. They’ll stop in dozens of cities including Toronto, ON, Saskatoon, SK, and Seattle, WA, before concluding on March 8th in Houston, TX.
This Apocalyptica tour is named for the band’s tenth album and first in four years, Plays Metallica Vol 2. A loving tribute to their beloved 1996 debut, Plays Metallica by Four Cellos, it’s a bit of a full-circle moment for the metal aficionados that’s destined to bring together fans old and new. While initially formed as a group of hardcore Metallica fans with a penchant for cellos, they’ve long since become legendary musicians in their own right.
“As familiar as their sound is after nearly 30 years, Apocalyptica still produce an overpowering barrage of sound that has lost none of its impact,” wrote Blabbermouth in their album review. “Few bands could cover a song like “Ride The Lightning” and rival the original’s epic bombast, but the Finns have this stuff in their veins, and they play every riff, solo and jolting tempo switch with utmost conviction.”
It’s hardly an exaggeration, as Apocalyptica is able to pull off both Metallica covers (they opened for the band months after forming!) and original instrumental songs with the highest levels of prowess. Since coming together in 1993 at Helsinki’s Sibelius Academy, Apocalyptica has released ten acclaimed albums, which have sold over five million records, and toured globally. Songs like “I Don’t Care,” “Nothing Else Matters,” and “End of Me” have brought together both metalheads and classical music lovers in harmony!
