Alt-J 2023 Tour Announcement – An Awesome Wave 10th Anniversary Tour Schedule
An incredible night awaits with Alt-J! The English indie-rockers are touring through the rest of 2023, beginning on November 9th in Austin, TX. They’ll stop in New Orleans, LA, Chicago, IL, Denver, CO, and more before concluding on December 5th in Portland, OR.
This Alt-J Tour is a belated tenth birthday celebration of their debut album, 2012’s An Awesome Wave. While the band was a bit too busy last year putting the final touches on their fourth album (and first in five years), The Dream, they’re destined to do both albums justice at these upcoming shows! Some of us will stand in the crowd anticipating a nostalgia element through prime 2010s tracks like “Bloodflood/Tessellate,” “Matilda,” and “Something Good.” Meanwhile, others hope for an avalanche of modern rock hits from the Alt-J album they’ve waited so long for.
Spoiler alert: you’ll be getting both and so much more at your nearby Alt-J concert. Characterized by intricate harmonies, electronic elements, and thought-provoking lyrics, their sound has been a staple in any indie rock lover’s collection for fifteen years now. And it was An Awesome Wave that started it all. The record established them as one of the greatest art rock groups of the 2000s, quickly taking them from the small stages of Leeds to the world’s biggest music festivals and venues. These days, they play a mix of medium-to-large venues, but are taking it back to the smaller stage in celebration of their debut.
You’ll get a grand view of your Alt-J concert at spots like Stubbs BarBQ in Austin, TX, The Joy Theater in New Orleans, LA, and Mission Ballroom in Denver, CO. These venues are discreet but oh-so-diverse and dreamy, just like Alt-J themselves! In addition to playing their first record from front to back, they’ll also likely play a few new tunes off The Dream. And while we had to be very patient for this project, it was well worth the wait. Songs like “U&Me,” “Hard Drive Gold,” and “The Actor” are a curious stroll through Alt-J’s signature sound — a blend of art rock, folktronica, and indie pop.
And who knows…maybe they’ll even throw in some jazz or R&B during their live shows! Alt-J concerts are known to be energetic, exciting, and all kinds of surprising. Let’s just say that we can’t wait to see what they’re cooking up on the upcoming tour. Get your tickets now!
