A.R. Rahman is heading to a city near you in mid-2022, and it’s going to be a magical night with the acclaimed composer. See him beginning July 17th in Redmond, WA, with 15 stops in cities like Los Angeles, CA, Atlanta, GA, Newark, NJ, and more before concluding in Detroit, MI on August 19th.
Rahman is a leader in World music, having composed and produced original scores for over 145 films in the last three decades. He works mainly in Tamil and Hindi movies and has become one of the most respected figures in the Indian music industry since the 1992 film Roja. That being said, his vast catalog of hits has taken him across the globe. After a relatively long hiatus from performing, A.R. Rahman returns to the US for a 15-date expedition.
How world-renowned do you need to be to perform at iconic venues like Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA, and Prudential Center in Newark, NJ? The answer is very, and Rahman puts his talent as a composer, producer, and singer on display with every show. He may be a winner of two Grammys, a Golden Globe, and six National Film Awards, just to name a few, but it’s his live performances where A.R. Rahman’s talent shines through.
You definitely know a good deal of Rahman’s work, even if you don’t realize it yet. He wrote the music for a little film called Slumdog Millionaire, which earned him two Academy Awards for “Best Original Song” and “Best Original Score” in 2008. His other credits include Bombay, Kadhalan, and Thiruda Thiruda, plus 2009’s Couples Retreat starring Vince Vaughn and Jason Bateman. The last marked his first Hollywood film.
