Into the Woods 2023 Performance Schedule

Those who watched the star-studded 2014 musical film, with appearances from Meryl Street, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, and Chris Pine, just to name a few, may know the plot. It all starts with a childless baker and his wife, who aim to undo the infertility curse upon them by a wicked witch. The old hag tells them that she’ll lift the curse only if they bring her four things…a cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn, and a slipper as pure as gold. Do you see where we’re going with this? The couple sets out “into the woods” to find these items and begin their family, coming into contact with many other fairy tale characters along the way.

All your favorite Brothers Grimm fairytales are included in Into the Woods, from Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk to Cinderella. They all tie together in an intriguing and often hilarious way, reminding viewers that even happy endings aren’t without a few hiccups. As for the musical numbers? They’re never-ending and just as catchy as you’d expect. The show begins with all the characters singing together on “Prologue: Into the Woods,” before diving into their respective stories with numbers like “First Midnight,” “It Takes Two,” “Lament,” and “No One is Alone.”

The woods often seem like dark and scary places in your favorite fairytales, but ironically, this spot is what brings them all together in Into the Woods.
