Kendrick Lamar 2022 Tour Announcement – The Big Steppers Tour Schedule
Kendrick Lamar has announced a US tour supporting his highly-acclaimed fifth studio album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. The multiplatinum wrapper will kick off this Kendrick Lamar tour on July 19th in Oklahoma City, OK, and visit cities like New Orleans, LA, New York, NY, Chicago, IL, and more before concluding in Los Angeles, CA, on September 15th.
There’s a lot to celebrate with The Big Steppers trek. Not only does it mark the first post-pandemic Kendrick Lamar tour, but it’s celebrating his first album in five years. It’s not easy to succeed 2017’s Damn, which topped the charts with hits like “Humble” and “DNA.” It also won a Grammy, American Music Award, and an iHeartRadio Music Award while becoming the first non-jazz or classical work in history to win a Pulitzer Prize for Music. Basically, the album was a really big deal, and fans have waited for half a decade to see what Lamar would do next.
Don’t get us wrong, Kendrick Lamar has kept plenty busy in the five years since he released Damn. He earned critical acclaim for his original songs on the soundtrack for Marvel’s 2018 film Black Panther. He also helped his cousin Baby Keem, who is serving as support on the 2022 Kendrick Lamar tour, release his highly-acclaimed debut album.
And then there was his much-talked-about performance at the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show, where he performed alongside Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and more for the ultimate meeting of hip-hop heroes. He’s quietly worked on his fifth album in the background while all this was happening, and Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers marks a new chapter for the mega-talented rapper.
Rolling Stone describes the album as a “kind of dense, complex, contradictory, and thrilling journey into the mind of Pulitzer Kenny that we’ve been waiting for.” And believe it or not, this barely scratches the surface of this album’s complexity. It narrates the 34-year-old rapper’s life and features an array of social commentary and all-star collaborators, in true Kendrick Lamar style, but don’t expect a repeat of Damn. Instead, this record presents the changes (both good and bad) in not only Lamar himself but also the world around him.
Songs like “Die Hard,” “N95,” and “Worldwide Steppers” are destined to become chart-toppers, and you’ll have plenty of chances to hear the deeper meanings in Lamar’s new hits. Especially when you listen to them live on the upcoming Kendrick Lamar tour. Get your tickets in the presale beginning May 19th!
