Hank Williams Jr. 2022 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Hank Williams Jr. is going back on the road in 2022, and the outlaw country singer has more than a few tricks up his sleeve. He’ll kick off the trek on April 1st in Southaven, MS, and continue through August 14th in North Lawrence, OH.
“It’s about that time, and you better believe I’m ready brothers and sisters,” Williams Jr. said. “We’re bringing some blues, some rock, and some country back to country.” All these genres are in his blood, as he’s the son of legendary country singer Hank Williams. However, Jr. has more than proven himself to be an iconic artist in his own right. He’s released 56 highly-acclaimed albums and sold 70 million copies, been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and helped originate the NFL theme song. More on that last one later.
While Williams Jr. has not released an album since 2016’s It’s About Time, the 72-year-old has decades’ worth of material to make every concert unique. These include “A Country Boy Can Survive,” “Country State of Mind,” and “Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound.” Can you tell that he’s all about outlaw country? He’s also known to perform covers by Johnny Cash or his father and engage in playful teasing onstage about his good friends and fellow country stars.
Sometimes the teasing even transfers to the biggest sporting event in the world. One Hank Williams Jr. concert review even stated that he poked fun at one of his biggest hits, “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming over Tonight,” used as the NFL anthem for years without the proper credit. As anybody who’s attended a Hank Williams Jr. concert knows, he didn’t hold back.
“Thirty-two years, three Emmy awards, eight Super Bowls, and I’m the one that wrote the f**king song!” he bluntly told the crowd. Was he playfully joking or actually seeking the proper credit for his sports anthem? People never know with Hank Williams Jr., as his sarcastically boisterous personality has become as much his trademark as his honky-tonk hits. And we love that for him!
