A Christmas Story: The Musical is coming to a handful of cities for the holidays, and you’ll fall in love with this sweet and simple tale! It’s based on the 1983 film of the same name, in which an adult Ralphie Parker narrates his ninth Christmas and all the memorable events that led to it.

At its roots, A Christmas Story: The Musical is about one thing: Ralphie getting his beloved Red Ryder BB Gun as a Christmas gift. But how can he convince his parents to buy it for him when they’re convinced that it’s too dangerous, and he keeps inadvertently making mistakes that don’t work in his favor? You’ll just have to see with this merry musical. It’s now playing in Boston, MA, Nashville, TN, Birmingham, AL, and other cities!
There are many standout scenes from the film that translate just as well on stage, and a few likely come to mind for the Christmas movie enthusiasts. Flick getting his tongue stuck on a telephone pole, the battle over the risque lamp, Ralphie uttering his first curse word… all of these vignettes assemble to influence the common goal. Yes, we’re talking about the Red Ryder BB Gun, with a side of holiday cheer and lessons about familial love.
The best part about the stage adaptation of A Christmas Story? The songs, of course. The musical score was written by famed songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, of Dear Evan Hansen fame, giving a bit of Broadway-style flair to Ralphie’s story.
