The Weeknd 2022 Tour Announcement – After Hours Til Dawn Tour Schedule
The Weeknd fans have been waiting for years to see the Grammy-winning superstar take the stage, and the time is almost here! New dates have been announced for the After Hours Til Dawn tour, which begins July 8th in Toronto, ON, and continues through September 2nd in Los Angeles, CA. Doja Cat will join him as a supporting act on the 2022 the Weeknd tour.
The Weeknd tour was initially meant to happen in 2020 before the pandemic put it on indefinite hiatus. He then rescheduled to early 2022 before pushing them back to summer. Now the singer, born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, is back and bigger than ever. Literally. He’s upgraded to larger venues in the form of football stadiums, including SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, CA, and MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.
These performances were initially meant to support only The Weeknd’s fourth studio album, After Hours, a psychedelic blend of R&B, electropop, new wave, and dream pop. Released in March 2020 at the very beginning of the pandemic, it took months and major lockdowns before Tesfaye was allowed back onstage. The good news? He used the time off to write and record his fifth album, Dawn FM, released in January 2022.
Taking on a more synth-pop sound than the R&B you’re used to, the critically-acclaimed record features new singles like “Take My Breath,” “Sacrifice,” and “Out of Time.” It features many appearances from The Weeknd’s famous friends, from the narration by Jim Carrey to the guest vocals by Tyler the Creator and Lil Wayne. While this The Weekend tour was previously titled the “After Hours,” the “Til Dawn” was added as a celebration of both critically-acclaimed albums he’s released in the past two years.
