The B-52s and Devo 2025 Tour Announcement – Cosmic De-Evolution Tour Schedule
The B-52s and Devo are teaming up for the co-headlining “Cosmic De-Evolution Tour” later in 2025, and it’s shaping up to be the quirkiest farewell party of the year. The two new wave groups will kick off on September 24th in Toronto, ON, stopping in eleven cities before wrapping up on November 2nd in Houston, TX. Lene Lovich will tag along as supporting act.
The first thing that comes to mind when hearing about the Cosmic De-Evolution Tour? A lot of “wait, what?” reactions, if we’re being honest. Both groups embarked on respective farewell tours earlier in the decade, but ultimately decided that they weren’t ready to hang up their keytar strings just yet. Both Devo and The B-52s performed at the SNL 50 party a few months ago, where the idea for this joint trek was born.
“In 2022, I swore I’d never get on a tour bus again,” says Fred Schneider of B-52s. “But we were careful to say to our fans that we would still perform in special situations that don’t require all of the awful tour travel. Our Vegas residency is going great, and when we were offered the chance to do a small run of shows with Devo, we all said this is an extraordinary opportunity we couldn’t say no to.”
Meanwhile, Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh echoed this sentiment with his own statement. “The B-52’s had one of the best sounds of any of the bands out there in the late ’70s early ’80s—‘Rock Lobster’ is one of my favorite songs—Devo used to sing it to Booji Boy after Devo shows,” he says. “It was either fate or luck or the SNL anniversary that brought us all together to create this amazing chance to go out on tour. All I can say is Cosmic Devolution is REAL!”
What can we expect from this tour? Anything and everything. The B-52s, long hailed as the “world’s greatest party band,” are bringing their instantly recognizable blend of surf rock, sci-fi camp, and Southern charm to the stage yet again. And with hits like “Rock Lobster,” “Private Idaho,” and, of course, “Love Shack,” on the setlist, you’ll be dancing like it’s 1982 again. Whether you were actually there for the B-52’s in their prime, or not.
As for Devo, those rubber-domed philosophers of the absurd? They’re ready to whip it (good) with their unmistakable brand of dystopian satire and synth-punk precision. The Cosmic De-Evolution tour is even more special when you realize that both bands have previously hinted at retirement, and even embarked on their own farewell tours to signal the end of an era. But of course, any music fan knows that ‘farewell’ isn’t always goodbye forever. And thank goodness for that.
These two bands re-defined the new wave era literal decades ago, and their legacy has only strengthened since then. They’ve already said goodbye once, so why miss your chance to see The B-52s and Devo for what could very well be the last time? Get your tickets to the Cosmic De-Evolution tour today.
