Rex Orange County 2022 Tour Announcement – Who Cares? Tour Schedule
Rex Orange County has announced a massive tour for mid-2022, ironically titled the “Who Cares? Tour,” although everybody is lining up to see the Gen Z singer-songwriter! You can see the 23-year-old beginning May 4th in Miami, FL, with shows running for almost two months before ending on June 26th in Toronto, ON.
The Rex Orange County tour is named for the singer’s fourth album. It stays true to his signature sound, described by NPR as a ”bright blend of hip-hop, jazz, and bedroom pop.” Add in the occasional sound of smooth indie rock, and you’ll see why Rex Orange County (born Alexander James O’Connor) is one of the most eclectic artists around.
The hip-hop scene initially helped Rex Orange County grow, as he was featured multiple times on Tyler, the Creator’s Grammy-nominated 2017 album Flower Boy. He was just a teenager at the time, but fans and critics took notice of his talent. He’s since released two studio albums, 2017’s Apricot Princess and 2019’s Pony, demonstrating his musical diversity.
Did we mention that he’s coming full circle with Who Cares? O’Connor has released three singles from the March 2022 record, one of which includes a collaboration with Tyler, the Creator called “Open a Window.” NPR praised the song while saying that Rex Orange County sounds “looser and lighter than ever,” while other publications praised the positivity and upbeat vibes coming from Tyler, the Creator’s protege. Similar vibes are present with the other two singles, “Amazing” and “Keep It Up,” and we can’t wait to hear the rest of Who Cares? On March 11th.
