Porter Robinson has announced a massive tour for 2024, and let’s just say that it’s a reason to “SMILE!” The world-renowned DJ and producer will begin on August 29th in Boston, MA, continuing through November 2nd in Seattle, WA.
Supporting his upcoming third album SMILE! 😀, set for release on July 26th, this Porter Robinson tour will be a frenzy of dazzling lights, diverse rhythms, and dreamy vision of the brighter days ahead. Unlike his previous albums, 2014’s Worlds and 2021’s Nurture, which explored his issues with anxiety and depression, this new project is an unapologetic pop record that gives you a reason to, well, smile.
New singles “Cheerleader” and “Knock Yourself Out” are auditory proof of this musical shift, moving Robinson even further out of his club roots and into full-blown pop star territory. And for the record, most of his fans are just fine with that. Don’t worry, he’ll still perform the tracks that made him an EDM heavyweight, like “Goodbye to the World” and “Musician,” on tour. However, he’s also ready to step into his SMILE! era with ease.
“Even on those arrogant cocky tracks, it’s honest,” he told Independent about his new record. “Because it speaks to how I wish I could be.” You know what that means? Just like many of his biggest fans, Robinson isn’t quite where he needs to be in his mental health journey quite yet. And it’s a relatable admission that reminds us we’re all only human. Just like we’ve danced along to Robinson’s songs for the last decade, he’ll be doing the same right beside us. And it’s destined to be a beautiful thing.
