Jelly Roll 2023 Tour Announcement – Backroad Baptism Tour Schedule
Jelly Roll is ready for the “Backroad Baptism tour” through the summer and fall of 2023, taking the rapper-country singer-rocker to 44 cities! He’ll kick off on July 28th in Southaven, MS, continuing through October 14th in Tampa, FL.
“The Backroad Baptism Tour is coming to a city near you this summer and I’m bringing my friends with me, baby!” Jelly Roll (born Jason DeFord) wrote on Instagram, “Don’t miss it when this circus comes to your town.” He isn’t kidding about his famous pals, which span across all genres for an insane musical fusion night after night. This Jelly Roll tour will be joined by country singers like Ashley McBryde, Chase Rice, and Elle King, rappers including Merkules, Struggle Jennings, Three 6 Mafia, and more. Basically, it’s a melting pot of music superstars that makes you kick up your heels one second before spitting verses the next, and we’re obsessed!
While mostly known as a rapper since his 2011 debut album, Year Round, Jelly Roll has made his way into country music territory over the past few years. He put out several Nashville-worthy hits in 2022, like “She,” “Need A Favor,” and “Son of A Sinner,” the last of which even reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart! That’s just the beginning of the honky tonk hits you’ll hear at these Jelly Roll concerts, as his new album will be released very soon.
In a late 2022 interview with Music Mayhem, Jelly Roll stated that his next project would be out in April or May 2023, and expressed his excitement for the next chapter of his career. “I’m really proud of it. I’m going to have some features on it. It’s a country record for sure,” he gushed. “It’ll be my debut country album. I’m kind of really excited about taking my first real big leap into the genre. I think ‘Son of a Sinner’ was just kind of showing people what I could do, but we also got some real kind of rock records on there, some real kind of rocky records on there. And we’ll have a couple of songs where I’m spitting a little bit too. So it’s still true to Jelly Roll for sure.”
