Herbie Hancock at Walt Disney Concert Hall – 2022 Performance Schedule
Herbie Hancock has a much-anticipated performance in Los Angeles, CA, in early 2022, and now is your chance to see the jazz legend. He’ll be taking the stage at Walt Disney Concert Hall on February 27th!
This venue has a special place in Hancock’s heart, as he also serves as the Creative Chair for Jazz at Los Angeles Philharmonic. After spending over a year away from the stage due to the pandemic, the 81-year-old jazz pianist couldn’t resist the chance to return to Walt Disney Concert Hall, and it’s going to be a night to remember.
“There are few artists in the music industry who have had more influence on acoustic and electronic jazz and R&B than Herbie Hancock,” reads his biography on the venue website. “As the immortal Miles Davis said in his autobiography, ‘Herbie was the step after Bud Powell and Thelonious Monk, and I haven’t heard anybody yet who has come after him.’”
Miles Davis is arguably the biggest name in the history of jazz music, but Hancock isn’t far behind. He joined the Miles Davis Quintet in early 1963 after Davis sought him out personally and went on to help redefine the genre with his post-bop sound and extraordinary playing. In his six-decade career, he’s released 41 top-selling albums, won over a dozen Grammys and served as an inspiration for aspiring jazz musicians worldwide.
Hancock’s urge to help fellow jazz fans has inspired him to take action. He’s served as a music professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, for the past decade and is currently chairman of the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz, which guides promising musicians.
He’s heading back to Los Angeles in February to meet his students at one of his favorite venues and play an incredible performance that reminds fans that they’re sharing a room with a musical legend. Will you see Herbie Hancock at Walt Disney Concert Hall in early 2022? Tickets are available now!
