Erykah Badu 2025 Tour Announcement – Mama’s Gun 25: The Return of Automatic Slim Tour Schedule
Erykah Badu is taking it back to where it all began with the “Mama’s Gun ’25: The Return of Automatic Slim Tour,” a nationwide trek celebrating the 25th anniversary of her groundbreaking album Mama’s Gun. The run begins on October 3rd at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and wraps on December 10th in her home of Dallas, TX,.
Released in 2000, Mama’s Gun is the album that earned Badu the nickname of “Queen of Neo-Soul.” Songs like “Bag Lady,” “Didn’t Cha Know?” and “Cleva” blended R&B, hip-hop, and soul to create a sound that was entirely her own…and people liked that they heard. Even all these years later, Mama’s Gun remains one of the genre’s most influential records, and she plans to celebrate in style on the 2025 Erykah Badu tour.
“I actually started writing it because I was inspired by my own personal growth,” Badu said about her hit single, “Bag Lady,” in a 2001 interview. “You know, I was happy I was able to assess things a little bit better. And I figured out that the reason I couldn’t get through the day as well as I can now is because I had too many things on my mind, on my plate, you know, for one person to have. So I started to eliminate some of the things that were too heavy to carry and unnecessary. So that’s where the words came from.”
This quote sums up the rest of the album, too…direct lyricism about insecurity, growth, social issues and relationships that inspired an entire generation of R&B fans. It also helped pave the way for the “First Lady of Neo-Soul” — who has since won four Grammy Awards, scored multiple platinum albums, and earned critical acclaim for pushing boundaries with every release.
Beyond the trophies, she’s a cultural force, with her unique style, outspoken spirit, and fearless artistry serving as a blueprint for countless performers. She recently performed her new collaborative album with The Alchemist, called Abi & Alan, to a phone-free crowd in Toronto, celebrating her past, present, and future in authentic Queen-like style. Her soulful voice and fiery spirit isn’t something to be messed with, and you’ll see it firsthand with verified resale tickets to the 2025 Erykah Badu tour.
