Earl Sweatshirt of Odd Future is embarking on a solo trek, dubbed the “Voir Dire Tour!” He’ll kick off on October 10th in Honolulu, HI, continuing through November 27th in Detroit, MI.
Joined by The Alchemist, this Earl Sweatshirt tour is a commemoration of their new collaborative record, Voir Dire. The short-but-sweet (it’s only 25 minutes) project came out in August after months of teasing. And hip-hop fans can’t get enough of new tracks like “Sentry,” “The Caliphate,” and “27 Braids.” With the amount of praise that Voir Dire has accumulated, the frequent collaborators and old friends knew that a joint trek was long overdue. “Al is a really great person and someone that genuinely cares about me, bro,” Earl Sweatshirt said in a 2022 interview with Mix Mag, after working with The Alchemist on several recent projects. We’re referring to the EP Flying High and last year’s LP, SICK!, among others. “It makes for the best recording because I can go with my whole self over [to his house]. Sometimes you need the space or the freedom to be as f***ed up as you are to really get it out and give it the time and to be able to process it.”
The Alchemist is just one of Earl Sweatshirt’s go-to collaborators. we can’t forget that he’s been a part of Tyler The Creator‘s hip-hop collective, Odd Future, for over a decade now! 2023 is a big year for the 29-year-old rapper as he supports new releases and pays tribute to old ones. While the Voir Dire tour will obviously put the spotlight on the album of the same name, he’s also embarking on a brief “Doris 10th Anniversary Tour” in honor of his 2013 debut album.
