The Ultimate 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Playlist

St. Patrick’s Day is known near and far as the day you wear green, drink whiskey, and do a jig to the best Celtic singles on the bar stereo. And don’t get us wrong, this is our kind of celebration! However, March 17th is also a rich commemoration of Irish culture and all it represents…and there’s no better way to party on your pub crawl than with the best 2025 St. Patrick’s Day playlist.

Our suggestion? Begin with some traditional Irish music to set the tone, gradually increase the energy with contemporary Irish artists and Celtic punk, and peak with universal party anthems that keep everyone engaged. It’s a winning mix that’s even better than an Irish mule, and your St. Patrick’s Day playlist will be on point with these tracks:

Traditional Irish Essentials

“Whiskey in the Jar” – The Dubliners
This iconic Irish folk song has been covered by countless artists, but The Dubliners‘ rendition remains a gold (or rather, green?) standard. Its tale of a highwayman betrayed by his lover resonates through generations, and the singalong chorus is ideal for group festivities.

“Wild Rover” – The Pogues
A staple in Irish pubs worldwide, this traditional tune by The Pogues about swearing off drink (ironically) accelerates the excitement of any crowd as the night progresses. It’s a vintage song by The Pogues that has a place in any St. Patrick’s Day playlist!

“Danny Boy” – Celtic Woman
For a more emotional moment in your celebration, Celtic Woman provides an otherworldly take on this beloved ballad that transports you straight to the grassy plains of Ireland.

“The Foggy Dew” – The Chieftains
The Chieftains’ cover of a classic Irish lament is passionate, proud, and perfect for your St. Patrick’s Day playlist. An anthem encouraging Irishmen to fight for their country, it’s both a history lesson and a heart-stirring single.

Modern Irish Artists

“Zombie” – The Cranberries
Who doesn’t love The Cranberries? Dolores O’Riordan’s unmistakable vocals and the song’s powerful message about The Troubles in Northern Ireland remind us of Ireland’s complex history while serving up a celebratory rock anthem that gets crowds moving.

“Take Me To Church” – Hozier
This breakthrough hit from Wicklow-born Andrew Hozier-Byrne, also known as Hozier, combines soulful vocals with reflective lyrics to give your St. Patrick’s Day playlist a modern twist.

“Beautiful Day” – U2
You can’t have a St. Patrick’s Day playlist without U2 — Ireland’s most globally successful band! This uplifting single captures the optimistic spirit ideal for celebrations, and you’ll be blown away by Bono’s one-of-a-kind voice and passion for Irish culture.

“We Cry” – The Script
The Script brings pop-rock sensibilities and Irish storytelling tradition together in their music. “We Cry” might sound like a sad title, but it’s actually a heartwarming anthem that takes your St. Patrick’s Day playlist to the next level.

Celtic-Inspired Party Tracks

“Shipping Up to Boston” – Dropkick Murphys
This Celtic punk anthem has become synonymous with rowdy St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. With its driving rhythm and distinctive bagpipe melody, it’s nearly impossible to not get up and dance when this Dropkick Murphys song comes on the stereo.

“If I Ever Leave This World Alive” – Flogging Molly
Los Angeles-based but Irish-fronted, Flogging Molly serves up Celtic punk that balances energy with heart — with this track building from gentle beginnings to a rousing, danceable ending that’s better than a pot of gold.

“Galway Girl” – Ed Sheeran
Sure, Ed Sheeran is British, not Irish, but you’d never know it with this number! His smooth-as-silk vocals are flawless on this track that blends contemporary pop with Irish folk elements, and it’s a go-to dance song for any couple on St. Patrick’s Day.

“Come On Eileen” – Dexys Midnight Runners
While not strictly an Irish band, this Celtic-influenced ’80s classic has become a must-have on any St. Patrick’s Day playlist. Why? Because it’s fiddle hook and build-up to that famous chorus never fails to fill a dance floor!

Non-Irish, But Universal Party Anthems

“Sweet Caroline” – Neil Diamond
Few songs generate the same level of enthusiastic participation as this traditional tune. The “bah, bah, bah” chorus somehow feels perfectly at home in your St. Patrick’s Day festivities.

“Don’t Stop Believin'” – Journey
Journey has rocked our minds for half a century now, and it’s largely due to this world-famous tune! “Don’t Stop Believin’ is a global phenomenon at celebrations of all kinds, and St. Patrick’s Day is no exception.

“It’s Raining Men” – The Weather Girls
This disco classic has universal appeal that crosses generations, and its unrestrained joy matches perfectly with the celebratory atmosphere of St. Patrick’s Day.“Mr. Brightside” – The Killers
The Killers are based in Las Vegas, very far from Ireland…but somehow, they’ve crafted the perfect singalong track for any Irish pub! This upbeat classic is a prime soundtrack to the sipping of green beer and banter of old friends.
