Maxwell 2022 Tour Announcement – Night Tour Schedule
Maxwell is taking off on the Night Tour this spring, celebrating the release of his highly-anticipated sixth album, blacksummers’NIGHT. The neo-soul icon will begin performing on March 2nd in Grand Prairie, TX, and continue through May 8th in Miami, FL.
2022 is going to be an epic year for Maxwell. blacksummers’NIGHT marks his first album in nearly six years, and rounds out the soulful trinity of records that began with 2009’s Grammy-winning BLACKsummers’night. He released the first single, “Off,” in late 2021, around the same time he was honored with the Legend Award at the Soul Train Music Awards.
“Legend” is almost an understatement for the 48-year-old singer, born Gerald Maxwell Rivera. He helped shape the neo-soul sound of the 90s, and put many of his greatest hits on display with a dreamy medley at the award show. We’re talking about “Sumthin’ Sumthin,’” “Ascension” and “Pretty Wings,” just to name a few.
He’ll have even more soulful songs to add to the setlist on the upcoming Maxwell tour, with his new album set to be released this spring. Arriving over a decade after the record that started it all, BLACKsummers’night, Maxwell is giving fans a night to remember with these neo-soul anthems. It’s his first album under his new BMG deal, having left Columbia Records after 25 years.
