Pretty Lights 2023 Tour Announcement – Soundship Spacesystem Tour Schedule
Pretty Lights is back and brighter than ever! The electronic artist, also known as Derek Smith, has announced the “Soundship Spacesystem tour,” his first full-length trek in five years. He’ll begin on August 4th in Denver, CO, hosting two-night events in cities like Atlanta, GA, Brooklyn, NY, and San Francisco, CA. Smith will wrap up the trek on December 3rd in New Orleans, LA.
“I’ve been looking forward to this day for a long time and am immensely grateful to be healthy and happy and surrounded by amazing people,” Pretty Lights wrote on Twitter. “I feel recharged and more ready than ever to launch a new vision of PL music and live events. Can’t wait to share everything that’s coming. And fam, seriously, thank you so much for your endless love and support. Thank you for all the positive energy while I took the time to focus on mine. It’s a new dawn, and I can’t wait to see you all again shining bright.”
It’s been half a decade since Pretty Lights last performed at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado in 2018. And he knows that you may have felt in the dark (pun intended) about the whereabouts of Pretty Lights. What has he been up to? Will he ever go back on tour? If he does, will he spin my favorite tracks? All of these questions will be answered on the upcoming trek, which he announced with a picturesque YouTube video that’s since racked up thousands of views.
We can’t wait to hear favorites like “Finally Moving,” “Only Yesterday,” and “We Must Go On,” all of which were electronic music festival favorites in the 2010s. The electronic music community has mourned his absence over the years, as he wiped his social media profiles clean and took a well-deserved, yet still sad, break from the entertainment world. We’ve all missed his beats that blend digital sampling with what was once described as “glitchy hip-hop beats, buzzing synth lines, and vintage funk and soul samples.” And we can’t wait to see what Pretty Lights has planned in the 2020s.
Smith hasn’t announced any new music yet, but it’s just a matter of time! And for now, we’re more than happy to see him light up the halls of the Brooklyn Mirage, Franklin Music Hall, and Mission Ballroom. Will you be there? Get your Pretty Lights tickets today!
